Mental Health Bible Study Podcast
This Mental Health Bible Study Podcast is hosted by Tyra E. Rowell, an empath who loves to talk about life, faith, and mental health despite her speech impediment due to being born with a hearing loss. She is an introvert with many roles and responsibilities who still finds time to create.
Let's talk about why she decided to create this Mental Health Bible Study Podcast. For three reasons. 1. To share knowledge that is not being taught in the church about mental health which is in the Bible. 2. To share knowledge about the psyche of human beings. Psyche means soul. Your soul is the seat of your feelings, thoughts, and willpower to choose. 3. To share knowledge that will uplift God's people and show them ways on how to live a balanced life being free, whole, healed, and happy.

Embracing Serenity in a Chaotic World
Could embracing serenity transform your life amidst chaos? Join us in exploring how being mindful of our thoughts and feelings deeply impacts our mental state and behavior. In our first chapter, we underscore the profound importance of nurturing relationships and cherishing the moments we share with our loved ones.
In our second chapter, we dive into finding peace through surrender and prayer. We encourage you to embrace the presence of God as a wellspring of love, peace, and joy, allowing you to release worries and welcome tranquility into your life. The Serenity Prayer guides this discussion, reminding us to accept the things we cannot change while finding courage to change the things we can, and seek wisdom along the way.

Hello there. How are y'all doing? On this day? It is a blessing to be up and about, doing the things that we love. I hope that you are being intentional about your thinking as well as your feelings, because, as you think, you're going to feel it and you're going to behave it, because they all are connected. So be mindful of your thoughts, be mindful of your feelings, especially when you are trying to do things differently, because transformation comes by the renewing of your mind. So, y'all, it is a blessing to be up and about and I'm grateful to be on this podcast one more time, and I want to let you know that it is going to be a short one, because Mrs. Rowell is not feeling good today, but I want to come on here and leave you with something. So not just something, but some encouraging words. So I want to encourage you to reach out to people you know, especially ones that you love, because we do not know when our expiration date is going to be. So, as you are thinking about loved ones, spending time with your loved one and it is a blessing, by the way, to even be gathering with your people that you love. Also. Check on them, see about them, send them text messages, let them know that you love them and that you're checking on them, because you just never know when our last day is going to be.
Tyra:So on this episode, I wanted to talk about serenity because the last two episodes I've been talking about how to let go of the things you cannot change. So I want to talk about serenity Because I do want to share the serenity prayer with you. Serenity means the state of being calm, peaceful and untroubled. This is so good the state of being calm, peaceful and untroubled. That means that you're not even going to let anything trouble you. So serenity is a very good place to be in. It's a very good state of mind to be in. But in order for you to be in that state of mind, that means that you're going to have to practice being in that state of mind, because you can't just become calm. You have to have some activities in place where you are calming yourself, whether that is doing some deep breathing or doing some grinding techniques, or even just sitting there listening to some meditation, music, and you're just letting yourself know that I am calm, I am peaceful, I am untroubled. And why should I be untroubled? Because of the Lord. He still sits high, he is the host of hosts and he is the beginning and the ending. So I can sit calm, I can sit peacefully. I can most definitely sit here and be in trouble with Jesus Christ on my mind, because there is a scripture in the Bible that talks about as long as you dwell in Jesus Christ, he most definitely can give you perfect peace. But you have to be the one to dwell in Jesus Christ. That means your mind is dwelling on Jesus Christ so that you can have perfect peace. Because this peace ain't just no peace, you know, oh my God. No, it's not. It's a peace that surpasses all understanding. Hallelujah, thank you. Jesus is all understanding. Hallelujah, thank you, jesus.
Tyra:You have to make sure that you are doing what you do. Make sure that you're doing what you're doing. You know what I'm saying, because we can't be concerned about what everybody else is doing, but you must definitely can be concerned about what you do, because that's your responsibility. No-transcript, my Lord, thank you Jesus. Because we get to a place where we think that other people are supposed to do this for us. No, no, no, no. They are not going to make us happy, they are not going to make sure that we are in a peace from state of mind, uh-uh, your state of mind, your state of mind, okay, you have to do what you have to do and whatever technique that helps you to get to that space of being calm, peaceful and untroubled, do that, and please make sure it's healthy. It has to be a healthy way of doing it. It has to be something that works as well. We can't be walking around here doing dysfunctional things and expecting some wonderful results. No, it don't happen that way.
Tyra:So a state of mind, a state of being that's what it says the state of being calm, peaceful and untroubled. That means you're being transformed by the renewing of your mind. Okay, by the renewing of your mind, that's an action word, that's a continuation, especially because we feel like, hey, well, I just got to do it one time. No, boo, it's a practice. It is something that you have to do all the time, consistently that would be the better word consistently. So, if you want to be in a state of being calm, peaceful and untroubled, get into that position. And how do you get into that position?
Tyra:By implementing techniques, activities, outlets that will get you to a state of being calm, peaceful and troubled, whether that is listening to the word of God, whether that is walking around a neighborhood and you are talking to the Lord, or whether that's sitting down in a corner with your back against the wall and you're sitting still and, like the scripture say, be still and know that I am God. You're literally taking the time out to just sit still and be still, from your head to your toes. Not just you know your hands being still, your feet being still, your head too, your thoughts, your feelings, your feet being still, your head too, your thoughts, your feelings, your actions. You're allowing them to sit there and be still and know that God is God. So you have that space, you have that time. Take that time to do that and do it consistently. And do it consistently Even if you're sitting in your car.
Tyra:When you drive up into your garage and you are about to go into the house. Take that time to sit in the garage and make sure that the garage door is open and you're not running the car. Okay, but just sit there and be still. But just sit there and be still. Sit there and say I am calm, I am peaceful and I am untroubled because the Lord got me in his unchanging hand.
Tyra:Just take in that moment to release whatever that you have went through that day and just bringing in the presence of God, receiving your peace, love and joy, because that is me being in a state of calm, peace and trouble. We have nothing to be troubled about, because God is the beginning and the ending and he most definitely is taking care of the things in the middle, hallelujah. So we just have to let him be God. Just let him be God, hallelujah. There's nothing we can do about the things that we cannot change. So just be still, be still. Tell your thoughts to be still. God got it. Tell your feelings to be still.
Tyra:I'm taking this time to live and die, to go and be still.
Tyra:Yes, lord, say the serenity prayer, because as I was doing the study about letting go of things I cannot control, I was thinking about, I came across the serenity prayer and it was the whole prayer, it wasn't the first two sentences, so I want to share that with you. Okay, god, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is not as I would have it, trusting that you will make all things right if I surrender to your will so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with you forever in the next Amen. So y'all have a good day on this day and be intentional about what you're thinking about. Okay, your thoughts are connected to your feelings, all right, so y'all know how I end my episodes. So be kind to yourself as well as to others.
