Mental Health Bible Study Podcast
This Mental Health Bible Study Podcast is hosted by Tyra E. Rowell, an empath who loves to talk about life, faith, and mental health despite her speech impediment due to being born with a hearing loss. She is an introvert with many roles and responsibilities who still finds time to create.
Let's talk about why she decided to create this Mental Health Bible Study Podcast. For three reasons. 1. To share knowledge that is not being taught in the church about mental health which is in the Bible. 2. To share knowledge about the psyche of human beings. Psyche means soul. Your soul is the seat of your feelings, thoughts, and willpower to choose. 3. To share knowledge that will uplift God's people and show them ways on how to live a balanced life being free, whole, healed, and happy.

Hello there, how are you all doing on this wonderful day that the Lord has made? I pray that you are choosing to be glad in it, and I also hope that you are glad to see the day that the Lord has blessed you with so that you can be about doing the things that you love as well as the things you don't want to do. But in the meantime, I just hope you choose to be glad in it. So it is an awesome blessing to be on this podcast, especially me, because it has been a long time since I've been on here. It has been since December 11th of 2023. That is a long time to me. So I want to take this time to apologize for taking a long time to create new content to put out here, but I do want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to those who have been listening, especially to the previous episode. It is a blessing to have people still listening.
Tyra:So, without further ado, let me get into what this podcast is about, but before I do, you know, I have to start this out with a quote, because I'm always, you know, reading out quotes because I just love to read them. I just love them. Some of them are just so profound and so insightful. The quote for today is instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create by Roy Bennett. Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create. So, let's talk about that for a moment, because you know I got to.
Tyra:The thing that stood out to me is the word shift your energy. Shift your energy, but not only shift your energy. He said shift your energy to what you can create, because, instead of you worrying about something, create something, because when you do, you're going to be shifting your energy on that thing that you are creating. Your mind is occupied as well on that, like in my case, if I'm cooking or I'm baking, or I'm painting, or I'm trying to create new dishes that I want to try, I'm writing books or whatever. Guess what. My mind is focused on that, my energy is focused on that, so it's literally shifting towards something that I'm creating. That just resonated with me so good, because I'm always creating something, but I want you to know that everybody on this earth is a creator of something. So, no matter what it may be, whether you're creating something with your hands or not guess what. You are a creator. You can create something, and so it feels good to me, especially to be creating something. Because I guess, because I'm artistic, maybe I don't know. I just believe that God created us to be creators. We're just creative like that. But even if you think you're not, I want you to know that you are still a creator. You still can create something, whether it's something fun or you know something fun like cooking, baking or painting, writing, whatever the case may be.
Tyra:But I also want y'all to know that you've got to create something internally as well. It just can't be external, it's got to be internally, where you are creating space for peace, joy and love. I'm always talking about that on my previous episodes where we have to create space for peace, joy and love for those around us as well as within us. So if you got a pen and paper, I want you to write down this affirmation that I created as well. If you don't have a pen and paper, I want you to write down this affirmation that I created as well. If you don't have a pen and paper, I am going to put this affirmation on my Instagram page, which is Mental Health, bible Study I create faith for peace, joy and love for those around me as well as within me. I create space. That means that I am choosing to create space for peace, joy and love for those people who be around me as well as within myself, because I want to have peace within myself, I want to have joy and I want to have peace within myself. I want to have joy and I want to have love. And everybody on this earth be desiring love, joy and peace, because it is a necessity in our lives. But there are some of those that just don't even care about peace, don't even care about joy, don't even care about love, peace, don't even care about joy, don't even care about love. But we have the choice to either entertain and engage with those that don't or not. Just remember that.
Tyra:Now let's get to the topic how do I let go of what I can't control? How do we let go of what we can't control? Okay, step number one make a decision to let go. Make a decision to let go, or make a decision to shift your energy somewhere else. Not on the things that you can't control, not on the things that you can't change, but shift your energy on the things that you can, okay, but shift your energy on the things that you can, okay, but you're making a decision. That's step one. Why is that so important? Because we have the power to choose to do anything, anything that we want to do, anything that we desire to do, anything that we need to do. We have to make a decision and we also have freedom in choosing what we allow in our space. Baby, if that ain't, oh my God. If that's not something that you need, it needs to be, because freedom in choosing to make a decision is so powerful.
Tyra:I want to show you something In Joshua 24 chapter 15 verse. Joshua 24 chapter 15 verse, and this is the new King John version. And if it seems evil to you to serve the lord, choose for yourself this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your father served that were on the other side of the river or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord Joshua, the children of Israel. You can choose on this day, but you got to choose for yourself. Okay, choose for yourself this day whom you will serve, and you know what the thing about allowing people to make decisions.
Tyra:I want you to understand, because sometimes people be there are some people who are indecisive, there are some people who would rather have other people make decisions for them. There's no freedom in that, there's no power in that, baby, I'm just going to tell you right now there is freedom and power in choosing for yourself, and I like how Joshua was telling them that, hey, if it seems to be evil to you to serve the Lord, then you can choose for yourself. Baby, I ain't going to make you do anything you don't want to do, and you ain't going to make me do anything that I don't want to do. I'm going to do what I want to do, and that is to serve the Lord. It's for me and my house, but even those inside Joshua's house, they still have to make decisions for themselves too, because we all have a free will to do what we want to do and serve whom we ever want to serve. But we cannot sit up here and make anybody make decisions. We cannot sit up here and allow people to make decisions for us either, because even though there are people out there who probably do want to make decisions for us, but we will not have freedom in that.
Tyra:Freedom is being able to choose for yourself what you want to do, what you know that you need to do as well. It's still a decision that has to be made, and those decisions are first mentally made. That means that it's up in the mind right now whether, hey, if I'm feeling some type of way, I'm feeling down, I'm feeling bad, I'm feeling depressed, I'm feeling anxious, I'm feeling like I'm frustrated, I'm feeling angry, I'm feeling anxious, I'm feeling like I'm frustrated, I'm feeling angry, I'm feeling bitter, whatever feelings that you may have or may be having. Guess what? Those feelings are coming from your thoughts, and those thoughts have to be controlled. They have to be mentally accessed, where you are literally sitting down and having a conversation with yourself, because we do a lot of talking, and if you're not talking a whole lot, then you probably do need to start talking to yourself, because there has to be a lot of self-talk when it comes to making decisions, because the definition of decision is a choice you make about something after thinking about several possibilities. That is from Cambridge. This is me, so it's already something that you're going to naturally be thinking about. So, while you're sitting there thinking, go ahead and make a decision, but make a decision from the thoughts that you're already thinking. But there has to be you sitting down in those thoughts and there's a way that you're going to sit down in your thoughts as well. And I do have some bonus episodes on how you can sit down in your thoughts, especially overthinkers, on how you can sit down in your thoughts, especially overthinkers. If you're the type of person who overthink, you most definitely will, you know, find these steps on how to deal with your thinking from these bonus episodes. But guess what? Just as you easily can choose to worry or be bitter or do the things that you know you don't need to be doing, you also can easily shift your energy elsewhere. But it's still a decision that you are making.
Tyra:If you want your life to be better, there has to be you making a decision first. It's the first step because you actually have to make that decision. And you make a decision even when your body may not be getting ready to do so, because it's a preparation process that you are naturally going through in order to walk that talk. Okay, a lot of people think I just need to walk, just walk into whatever my life is or what it's supposed to be. You're not just going to get there by that. It's a process. It starts mentally.
Tyra:First, you're going to have to talk. First You're going to have to sit down and process your thoughts. You're going to have to sit down and say, okay, why do I need to be doing this? What is going on with me, these thoughts in my head? I have to do something with them. You should do, I should do. They ain't going nowhere. That's why, you know, psychologists say they are automatic thoughts. They are automatically there. So if they are there, sit down with them.
Tyra:But in the meantime, you're going to have to make a choice. You're going to have to make it. It's a decision that you make and I do have an information for that. So it is. I choose to shift my energy to spaces that creates peace, joy and love. So if this is something that you want to do, if it's something that you want to let go of, this is how you do it by first making a decision. I am deciding to let go of this anger. I am deciding to let go of this bitterness. I am deciding to let go of this worrying about something that I cannot control.
Tyra:We start off with decisions. This is what I am going to do. This is what I need to do. I am doing it, I am doing it, I choose, I am. I am doing it, I choose, I am, I am letting go.
Tyra:It's actually actions that you're going to do and that you are actually doing, but it has to be made as a mental note, a mental note that literally renews your mind, because the Bible says be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. So you have to renew something that is already there that you're trying to get rid of. So let's renew it with a mental note, with affirmations that really do help you to make those decisions, and putting them on sticky notes and putting them places where you can literally read them out loud so you can tell yourself these are the things that we're going to do, and I say we because there are parts of you. We all have different parts to ourselves, so we have to talk to those different parts of ourselves. That's a whole other episode right there, but I just want you, for now, to put these affirmations on sticky notes and put them on the wall or on your pocketbook or whatever you know, so you can see these things and say these things and talk to yourself and have conversations with Jesus, because we can't do these things by ourselves. We can't let go of this hope and stuff by ourselves, especially when we're worried about stuff that we can't control. We're going to need the Lord to come on in and give us strength to make these decisions.
Tyra:It's not easy, you're right, it's not. It's not easy, you're right, it's not, it's not. But it first starts with a decision that you make. You're going to have to choose, baby, you're going to have to do it one way or the other. You're going to have to make a decision. And hey, guess what? If you're not ready to let go, it's okay. Have some grace for yourself.
Tyra:But I want you to know you don't want to sit in there too long, because the longer you sit there in those feelings that you do not want to have, they can turn into something else deeper. So let's not sit in them too long, but try to make sure that you have that power within you, which you do have, by the way. You have that power within you to choose what you are going to let go of. All right, you do, you have it, and you literally sit there and say it out loud and you literally let the Lord. Know that, god, I am choosing to let this go and I need your help to continue and be steadfast in letting it go, because there's not something that we can do on our own. So the episode for next week is going to be the second step on how to let go of what you cannot control. So make sure you subscribe to the podcast so that you don't miss it.
Tyra:But before I go, I want you to remember you have the power to choose to shift your energy wherever you would like it to be. So whether you're over there on the other side with all that going on, or you're on this side with all this going on, you're still choosing them sides to go over there. So, hey, it's nobody's fault, but ours. Let's just be honest. We have to take accountability for the things that are going on in our lives. I'm just going to be honest now.
Tyra:So if there's something going on and you're around some people, that's just chaos. Guess what, baby? You decided to stay there. You decided to entertain. You decided you making those decisions, not me. Yeah, let's just hold ourselves accountable. But I want you to know you have that power to choose to shift your energy wherever you would like it to be. So until then, until the next episode, be intentional of your thoughts Because, like I said before, as you think it, you're going to feel it, and as you feel it, you just may behave it. So be mindful of what you're thinking, be mindful of what your feelings are on the inside of you, because it's all connected. And don't forget to be kind to yourself as well as being kind to others.
